I study how microbial diversity mediates biogeochemical cycles in the central Arctic Ocean using a combination of field observations and modeling approaches. In a rapidly changing Arctic, my research focuses on the impacts of declining sea ice cover on bacterial community structure and how that in turn affects carbon flux between the ocean and the atmosphere.
